Brooklyn Middle STEAM School: Engineering a Global Perspective offers a schoolwide STEAM model that provides a path for middle school students in both arts and STEM (science, technology, engineering and math). Students have opportunities for arts and engineering coursework through project-based learning and participate in interactive, real-world experiences with scientists, engineers, mathematicians, musicians, artists, and technical professionals.
Opportunities to expand learning
At Brooklyn Middle, staff coordinate many opportunities for scholars to go deeper in their STEAM education, including:
- Monthly STEAM Explorer sessions with scientists, engineers and artists
- Job shadowing, science and career fairs and robotics clubs
- Wide variety of after-school programs
- Destination Imagination, Robotics, Math Masters, Scratch, Culinary Arts
- Community partnerships with Boston Scientific, St. Jude’s, Department of Natural Resources Forestry Division, and VocalEssence
